Trust Yourself
Trust. A firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.
Trust is built over time. Consistency of honesty, reliability and integrity. Yes, trust with others is important. However, before we trust others we must learn to trust ourselves. Can we be honest with ourselves? Just a couple of weeks ago our inspiration was around “Our Present Truth” – Being real about truths in the moment. This week we are focused on the need to be able to rely on ourselves and have integrity within our own values.
Have you made a promise to yourself in the last month? Have you kept these promises? If not, why? Whether it’s the promise to read every day, eat well, or reduce coffee, we must hold these promises with high regard. Otherwise, if we begin to let ourselves down by not honouring our own promises, we begin to lose trust within ourselves. If we cannot trust ourselves, it’s easy to feel out of control. However, once we begin to find that trust, we become more confident moving through life. We trust we can handle difficult situations, make the right choices at work and within our families. This confidence will roll into all aspects of our life!
Remember to always practice within your own limits and take care of physical and emotional well-being. Use yoga props as suits your practice.
Find trust in your practice. Can you take yourself away from the mirror, even turn down the lights with the following movement?
Asana Practice: (Mountain + Breath Awareness > Lightening Lunge > High Lunge > Warrior II > Wide Legged Forward Fold + Pause & Reflect > Side Lunge > Runner’s Lunge > Pyramid > Warrior III > Halfmoon > Warrior II > Mountain) > Repeat O/S > (Tree > Halfmoon > Standing Wide Relieving > Mountain) > Repeat O/S
Meditation Practice: Set yourself up in a comfortable seat in the least disruptive place you have available. Allow your mind to move through a promise you have made yourself and how you have maintained that promise. Allow the thoughts to come in and flow out naturally. Try not to hold onto any thought or begin creating stories around them.
