The Build Up

As we approach the long weekend here in Canada, there’s often a build up where we leave the summer vibes and move into fall. This signifies the beginning of grade school for the kids, often when businesses and organizations look to begin projects, and likely when we start to feel the need for routine to return to our days. Gyms and yoga classes begin to fill again, book clubs restart, and weekly lunches with friends probably resurface.

Personally, I’m looking forward to being back on the teaching floor! I can’t wait to catch up with my regular students, meet new students and teachers in my sphere, and get back into the yoga education mindset! Yes, The Refresh was needed. But the build up now to prepare to return is surfacing with the perfect balance of preparation and excitement. I’ve also missed my friends, while we do pretty good at keeping each other up to date, it’s not the same as the exchange of heartfelt hugs when we meet in person.

At the Alberta Yoga College, we are building up for the Fall/Winter 2025 offerings. Starting September 6th, we have our popular 200HR Yoga Teacher Training. Those already registered are connecting with their pre-program information and questions. Next week they’ll receive their first weekly email on the topics of Anatomy and Standing Asanas! In October our new 25HR Chair Yoga Course, and I’ll be announcing another addition to our educational offerings by the end of September – so stay tuned!

What are you building up for as we prepare to move into the fall season? Are you feeling excited or overwhelmed by this? Given that both feelings are likely present, this week’s practice is in the form of Yin + Vin – Yin Yoga + Vinyasa Flow.

Remember to always practice within your own limits and take care of physical and emotional well-being. Use yoga props as suits your practice.

Journaling Practice: This week perhaps take the time to set a goal for September – December. With just 4 months left to the year, there may still be outstanding goals that you’ve yet to tackle. Or, if you’ve met all your goals early is there something you can add before the end of the year?
