Yoga Inspiration: Conclusion

Conclusion

As we approach the end of the year we tend to want to finish certain projects, achieve goals, to feel as if we have a “fresh start” to the new year. As a result, the end of our year often feels like a sprint! It feels more like winding up before we wind down. It can seem a little bitter before it becomes sweet.

This past weekend the AYC’s Yoga Teacher Training group finished, and they all received their 200HR teaching certification. This group gathered with me for one weekend per month since May 2024. During that time, I saw tremendous individual growth while, what started as a group of strangers, formed long-term relationships, loving relationships. But I also so the sprint to the finish! Final projects, preparing tokens of appreciation, final presentations, and practices. From my side was final reviewing of items, certificate prep and grad prep, as well as teaching for the full weekend. It’s always an excitingly exhausting time! Which is why my inspiration is coming late this week. 😊

We now have a little more time to rest, hopefully. To allow the conclusion of the year to softly land. In 2025, we will welcome new energy, new challenges, new connections, into a new year.

The practices I offered this week have all contained Yin + Restorative. The start, welcoming some bitterness as we worked through the slow stretch, over time, with our Yin. We then moved into the rest through Restorative. It’s just the balance we needed.

Journaling Idea: As the year concludes I invite you to journal about some bitter moments and some sweet moments. These can help you when we come into 2025 as a full reflection on your year.

Breathwork Idea: Slow the breath down. I am recommending something I use often called Non-Sleep Deep Rest (traditionally it may be presented in a varying way with Yoga Nidra). This is offered on many platforms by Dr. Andrew Huberman. You can find the link for Spotify here.

Yoga Practice This Week:

Begin with Yin and the body should be cool. This doesn’t mean you can’t do a slow warming of Windshield Wipers > Cat/Cow + Hip Circles.

Yin Postures:
Runners Lunge w/bolster under the hands > Lizard w/bolster under the hands or forearms > Pigeon w/bolster under the forearms or head. Repeat on the right and left side of the body.

Restorative Postures:
Supine Hand to Big Toe with the leg full supported by a bolster ramp > Supine Twist w/bolster ( right and left) > Supported Fish w/bolster > Savasana w/bolster under the knees.
